Operational Strategy and Systems Alignment for Manufacturers

Most manufacturers outgrow their operating systems before they realize it.

Meridian Ventures aligns people, process, and technology so growth runs on structure, not tribal knowledge.

The challenge

It is rarely the people.

Your people are good and the work gets built. What runs the shop lives mostly in their heads. Scheduling, quality, purchasing: each one depends on someone knowing what to do, so the plant is only as steady as who showed up that day.

Departments work hard in directions that do not fully line up. The business system you already paid for sits largely unused while the real coordination happens in spreadsheets and hallway conversations.

You feel it as late shipments, rework, and constant firefighting.
The method

Four phases, in order.

The method has four phases, and they run in order: each one depends on the phase before it. Not every company needs all four. The assessment determines which phases yours needs, and the sequence is what keeps the plan defensible instead of arbitrary.

01

Structure

Define who owns each decision. Scheduling, quality, purchasing: clear ownership replaces tribal knowledge.

02

Align

Build the standard work and handoff standards that connect departments, so the output of one is a usable input to the next.

03

Integrate

Configure the system you already own to run and track the aligned processes, and retire the manual workarounds.

04

Sustain

Put the KPIs and review cadence in place that keep the gains from sliding back.

Structure before you align, align before you automate, automate before you can sustain.

The way in

Start with an Operational Alignment Assessment.

The way in is an assessment done in your building. One on one with each department leader, thirty to forty five minutes, separate conversations so the real gaps surface honestly. The floor gets walked first.

It produces a phased plan: which of the four phases your company needs, and in what order. Some companies are already structured and only need the later phases. You pay for the work that applies.

This cannot be done from a form. The gap between what a floor shows and what a leader says is itself a finding, and that only appears in the room.

Steven Lopez

Founder & Principal

Meridian Ventures is led by Steven Lopez. The firm is new; the experience behind it is not.

Fifteen years in manufacturing operations, from production manager to plant manager, with more than thirty lean projects led on the floor while running plants. Then five years as West Michigan's Industry 4.0 assessor across thirteen counties, running needs assessments in operations, workforce development, and business strategy for manufacturers across the region.

Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, PMP, and a data analytics certification stand behind the work. The work is the proof.
